Flick — 4K & Live Wallpaper App
A curated wallpaper app built in Flutter — editor-picked drops, matched lock and home screen pairs, and a premium tier.

The Problem & Business Context
Flick is my own product: a wallpaper app for people who care what their phone looks like, delivered in FHD+ and 4K with a curated premium tier.
Core Challenge: Wallpaper apps compete on volume — a million images, a search box, and full-screen ads between every tap. The result is a library nobody can navigate and a phone that ends up with whatever loaded first. The gap was taste: fewer images, chosen well, presented so a decision takes seconds.
The Solution & Deliverables
A curated shelf instead of an infinite feed. Everything on the home screen is a decision already made for the user — a daily pick, a monthly limited drop, a matched lock-and-home pair, or a collection built around a mood. One tap gets a wallpaper that suits them without scrolling through a catalogue.
Key Architecture & Design Decisions
01.Curation over search
Collections are grouped by mood rather than tag, and Editor’s Picks are hand-selected rather than algorithmic — the app takes a position instead of handing the user a filter panel.
02.Pairs, because a phone has two screens
Lock screen and home screen wallpapers are designed and shipped together, so the set looks intentional rather than two unrelated images.
03.Scarcity as a premium hook
Drops are limited-edition packs released monthly. Premium is worth paying for because the pack disappears, not because a paywall blocks the free catalogue.
04.True Black for OLED
A collection where the pixels are genuinely switched off — better contrast and less battery drain on OLED screens. A small technical detail that users of those phones notice immediately.
Measurable Results & Impact
- Live on the web today; the store build ships from the same Flutter codebase, so the app release needs no rewrite.
- [FILL: premium conversion rate or monthly premium revenue, once the paid tier has run a full month]
- [FILL: retention — how many users come back for the monthly drop]
